Pani Peeny Ki Dua | 2024

Prophet Muhammad SAW showed the significance of water and drew a line on specific Sunnahs to be observed while drinking it. It is recommended to say the dua “Bismillah Sakahum Rabbuhum Sharaban Tahura” to ask for water from heavens as a blessing.

Such blessings include the preservation of the kidneys, keeping the knees healthy and the spinal cord strong, avoiding weakness of the brain, and maintaining good health. The following Sunnahs bring about such blessings when performing water consumption: The Sunnahs prescribed in relation to water intake are to sit while drinking, use the right hand, say “Bismillah”, and drink in three breaths.

In English, the rules in Islam regarding water consumption are hereby mentioned:

See the water while drinking.

Sip with a cap or scarf on the head.

Drink water while sitting.

Keep the kibla (Kaaba) side in front of you while drinking.

Start by saying “Bismillah.”

Drink with your right hand.

Drink water in three sips.

Say “Alhamdulillah” after finishing it.

Prayer before drinking water In Roman English:

The prayer before drinking water in Roman English is: “Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Rahim.”

Explanation:

“Bismillah” means “In the name of Allah.”

“Hir Rahman” means “The Most Merciful.”

“Nir Rahim” means “The Most Compassionate.”

Thus, the full phrase would read, “In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.” This is a prayer that one says before drinking water-to bless this water and take the name of Allah before partaking in the blessings of sustenance coming from Him. The reason is to say thanks and embrace that the name of Allah is taken before any action for His blessing and guidance.

Astaghfar ki dua in Hindi:
“أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ الّذِي لاَ إِلَٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ”
Transliteration:

Translation:

“I seek forgiveness from Allah, the One besides whom there is no deity, the Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance.”

Astaghfar Dua is a prayer said to seek repentance from Allah for one’s committed sins.

The dua said after drinking water shows appreciation and acknowledges Allah’s provision. Here is its explanation:

“Alhamdulillahil-lazi sakaana wamaa kunnaa lahu muqrineen, wa inna ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon.”

Alhamdulillah: This is a phrase that means “Praise be to Allah.” It is an appreciation or acknowledgement that all praises are due to Allah.

“il-lazi sakaana”: This simply means “who has provided us with.” In this case, he acknowledges Allah as the Provider of the water.

“wamaa kunnaa lahu muqrineen”: Translated, it means “and we were not capable of acquiring it ourselves.” This part of the dua reflects human dependence upon Allah; in other words, what it says is that we are humans and not capable of providing for ourselves independently; rather, it is Allah who gives us provisions.

“wa inna ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon”: This means, “Surely to our Lord is we are to return.” It reminds man of the eventual return to Allah and it – directs to the transitory nature of life – passing, as it does – back to the Creator.

In summary, it thanked Allah for the water consumed; recognized that Allah is the Provider; acknowledged human beings’ dependency upon Allah, and reminded us all of our ultimate return to Him. Thus, it reflects respect, gratitude, and spiritual awareness after enjoying a very basic and highly essential provision: water.
